Members of state licensing organizations must be highly qualified and experienced in their professions. They conduct examinations, grant licenses and expect schools to see that certain physical standards such as those for space and equipment are maintained. In addition, they make sure that educational materials meet certain specifications. The chairpersion of the state board is usually a full-time employee, but other members may be school owners or people and related professions.
